1. Zero-Retention In-Memory Image Policy

When you upload or take a screenshot of your Shazam library, the image file is processed strictly in volatile memory (RAM).

  • No screenshot file is ever written to any hard drive or local server disk.
  • No screenshot is ever uploaded to any cloud storage bucket (e.g. AWS S3 or Cloudflare R2).
  • The memory buffer is completely dereferenced and purged from memory immediately after the song titles are extracted.

2. What Data We Actually Store

To provide your personal music catalog and YouTube links, we store only text-based metadata in our Cloudflare D1 SQLite database:

  • Decoded Music Information: Song title, artist name, explicit badge indicator, and recognized Shazam timestamp.
  • YouTube Links: The matching video URL, video title, and channel name.
  • User Account: If you sign in via Google OAuth, we store your email address, display name, and avatar URL to associate your saved songs.

3. Third-Party Services

We integrate with verified, secure external services:

  • Google Gemini Flash Vision API: In-memory screenshot data is transmitted via HTTPS to extract structured song titles. Google does not use customer API inputs to train its models under standard API terms.
  • YouTube / Google Cloud: Used solely to discover relevant video URLs matching your songs.
  • Cloudflare Workers & D1: Edge infrastructure hosting the application and database with encrypted network transport.

4. Cookies & Client-Side Storage

We only use essential functional storage:

  • Session Cookie: An HTTP-only secure cookie keeping you logged in.
  • IndexedDB: Stored locally in your browser to remember your chosen language preference. No tracking or advertising cookies are used.

5. Your Rights & Deletion

You have full control over your data. You can delete individual songs from your library at any time directly through the interface, which immediately deletes the corresponding YouTube record in the database.
